New Trick For a Hands-on Profession: How To Continue Profiting With The Use Of Teledentistry

Speaker: Michelle Strange, RDH

Technology has taken many industries and revamped them to become better, more accessible versions of what they used to be. Communications, for instance, is one industry that has boomed in the wake of new technological advancements. When it comes to the health industry, specifically dentistry, despite being traditionally very hands-on, it is not exempt from the obvious upsides that new technology can bring. Teledentistry is more than just staying in contact with patients as it also opens up the practice to a broader demographic and creates remote ways to carry out diagnosis and dental care. It is shaping the future of dentistry as a whole, specifically, the dental professionals of the future.

  • Identify use cases to increase care with teledentistry
  • Compare synchronous and asynchronous teledentistry
  • Discuss ways to code and profit from a teledentistry service

Meet Michelle Strange, MSDH, RDH

Michelle has been a clinician in dentistry since 2000 and is currently a practicing hygienist, speaker, writer, content developer, consultant, and podcast co-host for “A Tale of Two Hygienists.” With a Master’s in Dental Hygiene education and a belief in lifelong learning, Michelle hopes to continue to learn and grow within the dental profession and one day see the gap bridged between medical and dental. Her experience as a hygienist began in a periodontal and implant driven office while gaining considerable experience with the maintenance of dental implants and the compromised dentition. She has a new mission in dentistry: help clinicians create the safest dental visit for their patients. She is an OSAP member and is working on her infection control credentials through DANB. Her current roles include co-founder and co-host of A Tale of Two Hygienists Podcast, Co-founder Level Up Infection Prevention, Co-founder TriviaDent, Client Success Manager at MouthWatch, and is a practicing dental hygienist.
